About the course

State Board and National Association (AAMFT) Codes of Ethics set standards for professional practice, provide guidance for ethical decision making models, and support excellence in the work of Marriage and Family Therapy. This 3 hour training is approved for Ethics CEs by the KY Board will explore recent updates and revisions to the AAMFT Code of Ethics established January 1, 2026 including therapist responsibility to clients, confidentiality, changes in the field related to technology assisted services and ethical decision making models.

Meet Your Instructors

Amanda is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Kentucky, she specializes in self-compassion, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and EMDR. Known for her down-to-earth yet holistic approach, she works with perfectionists and high achievers seeking more authentic, fulfilling lives. Her practice integrates mental, emotional, and physical wellness, recognizing the connection between past experiences, daily habits, and overall well-being.  She holds a master’s degree in Marriage, Family and Community Counseling from California State University, Sacramento, with undergraduate degrees in Art History and Psychology from the University of Arizona. Her background includes community mental health work in Oakland, CA, private practice in Louisville since 2015, and founding Mental Health Lou, a nonprofit mental wellness hub focused on education and community resources. ________________________________________________________________________________ As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Kentucky and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor for Marriage and Family Therapist Associates, Allison Howell has a passion for education, growth and supporting people from all walks of life to feel whole, grounded and aligned. Using EFT (emotion focused therapy), EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing), narrative and client-centered approaches, Allison has experience working with clients from early childhood to late adulthood in community mental health, in-home, school-based and private practice settings. As a lifelong learner, Allison enjoys providing workshops about mental health and supervision to developing therapists. When thinking systemically, there is always room to grow and expand the system whether then be in a client system or in a self-care practice as a therapist; it is all connected.
